A Community of Women with Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. General meetings are held quarterly.

Our meetings are announced in the bulletin and newsletter. A light meal is served for our UMW. Guests are always welcome. Our business meetings are held following the dinner. 

W.I.S.E.  (Women’s Inspirational Spiritual Experience)

We meet on Tuesday nights at 6:00 pm. The Upper Room daily devotional is our current study material. We offer a small group setting that is compassionate, supportive and understanding of the problems women face in today’s world. Praying and lifting up the concerns of others are an important part of every meeting. We are also involved in working with the Widows/Grief Support Ministry. Please join us!

The United Methodist Men’s regular mission projects include awarding of scholarships for children in Western Kentucky to attend summer camp at Lakeshore in Tennessee.

Other Mission Projects include:

  • The purchase of Christmas gifts for area nursing home patients who are in need.
  • Making and delivering Christmas fruit baskets to those congregation members who are widowed, widowers or live by themselves.
  • Supporting The Cub Scouts and The Boy Scouts by paying for their charter, giving them a place to meet, store their articles for their meetings and their trailer. With donations to help with their expenses.
  • We also help Support Concord Elementary School by participating as Watch DOGS. Watch DOGS is a school-wide program that focuses on the involvement of D (Dads) O (of) G (great) S (Students). Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles, and other father-like males volunteer to invest and help develop student achievement on a daily basis in classrooms all over the school.
  • We also make donations to local charities like Paducah Cooperative Ministries and Martha’s Vineyard. Plus providing help to residents within our community as situations arise.

Our primary fund-raiser is a breakfast buffet which is currently four times a year.

Our weekly prayer breakfast is on Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend and fellowship with us.

Many people sing and make music at Concord!  We have a new Choral Group leading Worship at the 8:15 a.m. service.  Those who desire a more contemporary worship are invited to attend the 10:30 service where contemporary and traditional music are blended so that everyone has something and all are valued. The adult choir exists to lead the congregation in worship music as well as encourage worship through frequent musical offerings featuring the choir. Concord UMC choir practices weekly, usually on Sunday evenings.  They also present an annual Christmas cantata in December.  “We always encourage anyone who wants to make a joyful noise to join us!

The B. C.’s (before computers)  meets monthly the first Friday of every month at 11:30 for Fellowship and a meal. Please come join us.

Church-wide Supper —  Each Wednesday night that school is in session, from 5:15 until 6:00, a wonderful meal is prepared for everyone to enjoy. The menu is different each week. It provides a time to fellowship together and have a good meal. All are welcome. Call the office at 443-2669 to reserve a spot.

Wednesday Night Bible Study This group meets at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday nights. The studies are directly from the Bible and includes open discussion. The group is made up of all ages and they encourage everyone to attend. Led by Don Edwards.

Wednesday Night Bible Discovery This group meets at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night during the school year. This group wishes to gain a greater knowledge of the Methodist ways. The group is made up of all ages and they encourage everyone to attend.  Led by Dean Emerson.

Prayer Room The Prayer Room at Concord Is Open Monday Through Friday, 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. You Are Invited to Come, Make Use of this Special Place of Prayer. A Prayer Warrior Is Assigned Each Day to Pray for All Requests.
